PEN SHUGEN
From Taiwan to Japan.Creating a new story for a product.
As Amoa Japan Inc., I produced the Japanese business of “pen shugen,” a hair care and cosmetics brand from Taiwan.
Along with bringing the appeal of products born in Taiwan to Japan, we also worked on developing new products in Japan.
One of them is a laundry wash that focuses on the hydrosol produced in the process of making tea tree essential oil.
Then, adding the new experience of “scent” to that product, a product unique to Japan was born: “Laundry Wash Scented with the 12 Zodiac Signs.”
Inspired by the themes of each of the twelve zodiac signs and by Greek mythology, we created twelve scents with a perfumer, tailored to Asian olfactory preferences. Ahead of its release in Taiwan, it went on sale in Japan on November 19, 2022.
From choosing a scent,
to sensing who you are today.
We layered different elements—scent, story, and the zodiac—onto “laundry,” an everyday act, and developed it into a new product experience.
In December 2022, in-store sales began at E SALON LUCUA Osaka. It was later featured on the TV program “Girls Happy Style.”

REMOTE KAMIARIZUKI / KOBITO KAMISAMA
Concept & Art DirectionConceived and planned, as art director, the art event “Remote Kamiarizuki ― Meet the Kobito Kamisama at Inasa Beach,” a new way to experience Izumo’s Kamiarizuki. With Izumo as the main venue, connected to Tokyo and Fukuoka, the event used video and QR codes to let visitors meet the “48 Kobito Kamisama,” little gods inspired by the deities of Japanese mythology. A collaboration with illustrator Gaku Igarashi, it opened the world of myth into contemporary expression. In Fukuoka, it was also held at Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin.Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin event page ↗
