Artwork

Drawing the world I see inside a stone.

Through many years of working closely with gemstones,
I began to see landscapes within a single stone that color and light alone cannot describe.

Color deep beneath transparent layers.
Expressions that change with the light.
Chance landscapes formed by inclusions.
Memories and sensations that arise the moment I see the stone.

My Artwork
begins with a gemstone and draws the world I sense from it.

Sometimes I depict the stone as it is,
and sometimes it unfolds into color, light, line, and abstract form.

In jewelry design, a stone’s character becomes “something to wear.”
In Artwork, what I receive from a stone becomes a freer “landscape.”

Gazing at the world inside one small mineral,
I open the sensations born from it once more on the canvas.

For me, drawing too
is a kind of Creation that begins with a dialogue with stones.
